Andrew Lienhard is a pianist that recently returned to his hometown in Houston, Texas after living eight years in NYC and three in Oakland, CA. Performance credits include Joe Henderson, Kirk Whalum, Jimmy Haslip, Hubert Laws, Joe Sample, Ronnie Laws (a member of his touring band for two years), Jacko Peake, Conrad Herwig, Tim Hagans, and Doc Powell. Besides appearing on numerous local CDs in Houston, Andrew also played on Ubiquity Records "Still Cookin'", a nationally released Funk/Acid Jazz CD (reissued on "Best of Cookin'"), which is still in-print more than a decade after its release.
In 2002-03, Andrew scored a collection of pieces for a series of Snoopy/Peanuts animated greeting cards featured prominently on the Yahoo Greeting Cards website and sent over two million times. Those cards (and others like it) can still be found on Snoopy.com, Dilbert.com, and Comics.com (sites he also helped to develop). He also wrote the score for three Audio CD's for his father's popular radio, The Engines Of Our Ingenuity. The theme to this NPR-syndicated show, now in its 20th year, was composed and performed by Andrew as well.
The other side of his brain spends a considerable chunk of time in the software world. His diverse web career which began back in '95 during the DotCom era has included projects for high visibility sites such as Sesame Street, Sony Wireless Music, BET, CBS News, DavidBowie.com, Russell Simmons 360 Hip-Hop, The Wall Street Journal, Dilbert.com, Comics.com, The Cartoon Network, HGTV, FoodTV, and Shop At Home TV. He bridged his interests with the creation of www.jazzhouston.com in 1995 which is still online today.
Andrew graduated and later taught (jazz piano) at Houston's famed High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA). He holds a Master's in Mathematics (U. of H.) and a second Master's in Engineering/Applied Math from UC Berkeley. These days he divides him time gigging around town and doing recording projects in his home studio all while working for a web software company in Austin. He is married to a wonderful super-talent named Stephanie.
